Characteristics of construction

The cathedral is a three-nave building finished with a semicircular apse. The main nave is 14 meters wide and 22 meters high, the side aisles are 7 meters wide and 10 meters high. The total length of the building is 68 meters. Two symmetrical front towers 67 meters high rise above the cathedral. The cathedral capacity is 4,000 people. The Cathedral is the second largest religious building in Moravia. At the top of the side aisles, there is a three-part cornice supported by twelve freestanding sandstone columns in Ionian style. The vault of the nave is divided by pilasters in Corinthian style.

The subject of the construction works was the overall revitalization of the building consisting of repairs of the roof truss and the cathedral roof in the area of ​​2,080 m², replacing the roof covering of two towers including new conductors, repairing the exterior plaster including new paint in the area of ​​6,700 m², restoration of the sculptural decoration of facades, restoration of the handicraft part of the construction, repairing grilles, crosses and 8 pieces of the tower clock, repairing window panes, installation of new toilets, electrical installations, indoor lighting, replacement of floor tiles in the area of ​​1,190 m², painting an area of ​​5,339 m², repairing the internal plastering in the area of ​​2,100 m², and cleaning and tuning 2 pieces of organ.
