General Janek Elementary School

The construction works were carried out to reduce the energy consumption of the building during school operation to the following extent:

• Replacement of window openings in the building envelope,
• insulation of the façade,
• insulation of the floor in the 1st floor
• attic insulation – ceilings, including sloping parts
• implementation of recuperation in classrooms
• reconstruction of the heating system
• replacement of lighting with energy-saving luminaires.

The PD addressed the barrier-free use of the building: installation of a lift between 1 and 2. Newly created specialised classrooms (computer room, chemistry and physics classroom, science classroom) and a room for “school counselling centre”. Classrooms were made in direct connection with the special classrooms. By creating special classrooms, the number of pupils on each floor was redistributed and for this reason, the sanitary facilities on the 2nd and 3rd floor were made more spacious, recuperation was carried out, equipment for barrier-free solutions (lifts…) was placed and new special classrooms were created, including the replacement of electrical wiring. Due to the compatibility of the proposed and existing equipment, the wiring throughout the building was redone. A new rest area was added in the school grounds, within which greenery and benches were added.
